Meet Carrie Hatch

Personal growth and healing can coexist without sacrificing our connections with others. By embracing the positive changes within ourselves, we can also foster stronger and more meaningful relationships with those around us.

Hi! My name is Carrie (she/her), and I am a therapist, activist, scholar, and researcher with a passion for social justice. I hold a Ph.D. in Couple and Family Therapy and utilize feminist theory, critical race theory, and queer theory lenses in my research to promote empowerment and equity. I have been teaching graduate students in the mental health field at several universities since 2019, and my teaching philosophy centers around liberatory pedagogies.

My life’s journey has influenced my work as a therapist. Growing up in a conservative home in Las Vegas, Nevada, I was taught early on that conforming to others' expectations was the only way to find happiness. As a result, I have dedicated my adult life to deconstructing these narratives to define my identity and find happiness for myself. My experiences as a "wounded healer" have motivated me to help others do the same.

As a therapist, my work is trauma-informed, and I am committed to helping clients heal from past experiences. I am also an advocate for social justice, and I actively work to address the consequences of prescribed societal rules and norms. My commitment to social justice is evident in my research too, which explores the intersections of race, gender, sexuality, and identity.

Outside of my work as a therapist and researcher, I am a wife and mother of two. My family enjoys art, Thai food, movies, and Friday at-home spa nights. Our family motto of "I love you no matter what, and there is nothing you can do to make me not love you" and "do what's right, no matter the consequence" reflects my values of love, acceptance, and integrity.
